Life has taken me a long way from where I started, in what was then a small village in England called Heston.

My teenage years were full of rock and blues, smoky little clubs, the Stones before they were the Stones, and the unmistakable rasp of a young Rod Stewart.

For many years Asia was home, and photography became part of the way I experienced it. I photographed the life around me and, over time, created a body of work that remains an important part of who I am.

Then life changed completely. After many years away, I returned to England under circumstances I could never have imagined. Photography had to wait.

England is home again now. My family is close, new friendships have grown, and life has begun to take a rather different shape.

And I’m taking pictures again.

Photography has always given me a reason to look more closely at the world. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is the world immediately around me — and perhaps, after everything, the way I look at it.

The photographs here come from different places and different times. Some travelled home with me. Others are being made now, much closer to home.

I’m curious to see what comes next.
